Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a large and diverse population of more than 450,000 which includes Ascot, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Slough, south Buckinghamshire and Windsor.

The Trust has approximately 3,200 staff providing acute services that include cardiology, maternity, stroke and emergency from two main sites in Wexham Park (Slough) and Heatherwood (Ascot). There are also a range of outpatient, breast screening and diagnostic services from four other sites King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor, St. Mark’s Hospital in Maidenhead, Fitzwilliam House in Bracknell and Chalfonts Outpatients in Chalfont St Peter.

In a year there are approximately 32,707 day cases and elective inpatients, 36,460 emergency inpatients, 5,343 births, 111,914 A&E attendances, 86,412 new outpatient appointments, 173,005 outpatient follow-up appointments and 45,500 procedures performed.

Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Pathology

Pathology services are provided from the main laboratory at Wexham Park supplemented by a smaller laboratory at Heatherwood Hospital. Disciplines include transfusion, haematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, histology and cytology and mortuary facilities.
